Jan Fabre's mental world, his motifs and obsessions, can be found in his writings and plays. In 2004 the Flemish-Dutch publishers Meulenhoff/Manteau published an anthology of 24 pieces by Fabre entitled Ik ben een fout, theaterscripts en theaterteksten 1975-2004. A second volume (November 2005) is entitled Geschiedenis van de tranen en andere theaterteksten. A third pocket was published in 2010 and is entitled De dienaar van de schoonheid en andere theaterteksten.
