This powerful text by Jan Fabre, dedicated to William Forsythe and inspired by the figure of Andy Warhol, shows two androgynous characters gradually defining and merging into each other in a mutual exchange of past identities. This creates a sophisticated play of references in which even the author is reflected. The comparison between the two seems to us entirely centred around the artist's (Warhol par excellence) sense of despair and death, exposed to media noise and the relentless search for meaning performed on his body. In Lorenzo Loris's staging, the two interpreters, Elena Callegari and Mario Sala, ultimately give substance to the spirits of the two protagonists in a hallucinatory confrontation from which the remnants of a distant, intimate acquaintance reappear. Through a paradoxical and amused play of self-identification, the actors bounce back the words of this work, a work whose roots reach into the depths of the soul, evoking passionate emotions and astute reflections from which the vision of the disturbing connections between the artist and his audience emerges.
