In a world without Covid-19, you could have attended the performance THE NIGHT WRITER in the Italian, Russian, French or Serbian version in a theatre close to you, somewhere in Europe. However, that is still not possible due to the Corona restrictions. That’s why the international performers read for you their favorite excerpts from Jan Fabre’s Night Diaries in their native language.
The text of this literary production is a compilation of excerpts from Jan Fabre’s Night Diaries and from his theatre plays.
CHRISTIAN BAKALOV
The Bulgarian performer Christian Bakalov is connected to Troubleyn since 2007. As a freelance artist, he presents his immersive art installations (Bright, Pure, Eternal) worldwide in museums and theatres.
Fabre's Night Diaries are published in Bulgary (3 volumes covering the years 1978 - 1998) by University Press.
DENNIS MAKRIS
The Greek actor and performer Dennis Makris joined the Troubleyn Company in 2012 for the re-enactments of This is theater as it was to be expected and foreseen and The power of theatrical madness. Dennis presents a short movie based on Fabre's Night Diary (1978-1984), the reading was filmed and edited by Anastasia Giannaki. The Greek translation of the Night Diary was published by Nissos, Athens.
ASTRID BAS (part 2)
The famous French actress Astrid Bas performs the solo show ECRIVAIN DE NUIT. The opening night took place on the 11th of March 2020, a few days before the Corona-lockdown. It was part of the 100% Fabre festival at TANDEM ARRAS/DOUAI.
The Journal de Nuit by Jan Fabre are published in France by L'ARCHE.
SLOBODAN BESTIC (part 3)
Slobodan Bestic performs with art and passion the first repertory play of Jan Fabre in Serbia THE NIGHT WRITER. The opening night took place at the National Theater in Belgrade on February 22nd 2020. New dates for the fall of 2020 will be announced soon!

GIORNALE NOTTURNO, written and directed by Jan Fabre. In December 2019, Lino was awarded the prestigious UBU Prize 2019 for best actor for this performance.
